On October 11 this year, Nissan officially announced its withdrawal from the Russian market. Note that the Japanese company began its sales in our country 30 years ago, signing the first dealer contracts in 1992. In 2003, the company “Nissan Motor Rus” was registered, later a plant was built in St. Petersburg, and contracts were signed for assembling cars in Moscow and Izhevsk.
The experts decided to recall the most striking figures from the thirty-year history of the brand’s development in Russia. It has been established that in Russia as of July 1, 2022, there were more than 2.2 million Nissan cars. In terms of size, this park ranks fifth among all existing brands.
The statistics of the market for new Nissan passenger cars over the past 15 years are also analyzed. The maximum result came in 2014, when 162.3 thousand cars of the Japanese brand were purchased, and its share then reached the best indicator (6.9%). The most popular model of the brand in Russia is the Nissan Qashqai crossover, which consistently ranked among the most popular SUVs in the Russian market.
As for the dealer network of the Japanese brand in Russia, at the beginning of October this year it consisted of 117 auto centers. The current agreement to sell Nissan’s assets is designed so that the company could still come back within a few years.
In the meantime, it was decided to transfer the warranty and after-sales service of Japanese brand cars to AVTOVAZ, which will take control of the spare parts warehouse and the supply of consumables. Probably, a relationship scheme will be established, as with dealers of the previously departed French brand Renault.
